Quality Application Services is an enterprise application built for the payer organization to design and monitor programs for providers
This application was signed under the contract by the Tennessee Medicaid Program (TennCare) to support the agency’s payment reform and clinical quality initiatives. It helps the state Medicaid agency to align its payment model with the centers for medicare and medicaid services’ (CMS) national payment reform initiatives. For more info, check the ‘Press Release’ section at the end of this page.
Quality Application Services allows the user to design and manage a program end to end. User can design programs using templates by selecting providers, target quality measures and setting up reimbursement tiers. Depending on the user role, it also gives the ability to monitor the program progress with respect to provider quality/financial performance against the specific program period. It deploys the contract with facilities to enable data submissions due to which facilities can submit the periodic data reports in the system. There is also a central repository of reports across programs and providers that can be downloaded.
My role in the project was that of a UX Designer which lasted for 3 months of active design phase and further support of 2 more months. The work was divided between me and my manager (lead designer). I was mainly incharge of the design and monitoring aspect of the Quality Applications Services product.
It started with discussing the requirements, constraints and client's expectations for delivering the developed product. Along with designing the screens based on inputs given by product managers, I also made sure the design is WCAG 2.0 (Accessibility standard) compliant. There were several rounds of review and redesign of the screens until we came to the point of building the minimum viable product (MVP) first.
Design a Program
This application was signed under the contract by the Tennessee Medicaid Program (TennCare) to support the agency’s payment reform and clinical quality initiatives.
This project was one of the most ambitious projects I worked on at Edifecs. I only, assisted my manger who was leading the UX design efforts for the most part. It is one of the most complex enterprise UI design project. The design team (my manager and I) were awarded a special recognition certificate by the Edifecs CEO for the work for this project.
I was assisting my manager / lead designer for this project. It was a legacy product at Edifecs and there were a lot of resources that were dedicated for this project who have been working for many years. As a new designer, I got to learn a lot from the work done previously and the work yet to do in this project. One drawback I observed about the legacy product was that it is very hard to change the current design elements (UI flow, components, color palette, iconography) because of its strong customer base who is used to operating the UI in a certain way. The challenge is to incrementally improve the application without disturbing the existing UI. Read more thoughts on this topic here. I am proud to be a part of the team that had such a meaningful impact on the people.
